Reckless property tax increases threaten to price long-time residents, families, and seniors out of their homes. When Guilford County increased your property taxes and issued outrageous reevaluations, John Blust took immediate action. John championed legislation that freezes property tax revaluations and supported a constitutional amendment that caps the amount local governments can raise property taxes. John also supports exempting the first $100,000 of your home’s value from property tax.
Families deserve affordable, reliable energy. Our North Carolina residents shouldn’t be picking up the tab on increased energy bills caused by large companies who can afford it on their own. That’s why John voted to make data centers pay their own way by requiring them to cover costs of power and infrastructure.
Rising costs are draining our paychecks. Bills and the price of everyday living are putting a strain on our working families. John is fighting for solutions that keep more money in your pocket. He’s sponsored legislation to eliminate North Carolina’s tax on groceries, confronted big tech companies that threatened to raise your energy costs, and cut state income taxes.
Quality education starts with our teachers. John Blust worked to secure the largest teacher pay raise in 20 years, making North Carolina the #1 in the Southeast for starting teacher pay. He’s also worked to bring record classroom funding to our state and supports providing opportunity to all students regardless of their parent’s income.
We must protect our resources and farmland is our most vital. John sponsored legislation that bans foreign adversaries, like China, from purchasing farmland in North Carolina. This protects our land, secures our food supply, and keeps family farms safe.
